6th and 8th Grade
Math Tutoring, Mentoring & Activities Program

What is it? Horseshoe Farm is a once a week after school mentoring, tutoring, and activities program. We will work with talented recent college graduates living in the community, other community volunteers, teachers, staff, and the principal of Greensboro Elementary School to make every Tuesday an exciting and valuable experience. Horseshoe Farm Tutoring provides a positive and productive structure to end the school day. Students will work closely with tutors to improve and strengthen the basic math skills needed to succeed in class and standardized testing. After an hour of tutoring, we will provide a healthy snack followed by an organized group activity. It is our goal that students have fun, get the help they need to succeed in school, and develop lasting relationships with their mentors.

How much does it cost? There is no cost to attend Horseshoe Farm! This program is completely free of charge, but with this privilege comes responsibility. Students are expected to follow the rules, attend regularly and behave in a responsible and respectful manner.

Who is it open to? Because of limits on space and number of mentors, we must limit the number of students who will be invited to attend. Your child may be invited based on recommendations from math teachers and administrators at Greensboro Middle School. We are only accepting a certain number of students, so we cannot ensure a space for everyone who applies.

When & where? Horseshoe Farm will take place every Tuesday during the school year from 3:15-5:00 in the Greensboro Middle School cafeteria.

Transportation: All students must be picked up at 5:00 PM from Greensboro Middle School by a parent or other designated person.

How do I apply? We accept students who have been nominated by their teachers or their principal. Please contact 334-507-5537 if you would like your child to be considered on the wait list for the program.

If you have any questions or would like to help or volunteer in the program, please feel free to contact the Horseshoe Farm Fellows at:
